Maritime Attorney, Of Counsel

Jack G. Poulson, Esq.

Jack Poulson | Of Counsel

Attorney Jack G. Poulson has been extensively involved in the maritime industry for over forty-seven years. His strong maritime background both on the water and in the courtroom make him a skilled admiralty attorney for injured offshore workers.  He has practiced maritime law in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest for over thirty-eight years with a deep specialty in seaman injury and wrongful death cases.

Before attending law school, Attorney Poulson operated tugboats in Alaskan waters on the Yukon River system, and in Southeast Alaska. He earned a United States Coast Guard Inland Operator License for Uninspected Towing Vessels and held a United States Merchant Mariner’s Document and a Transportation Worker Identification Credential. He continues his maritime involvement by participating in the towing industry and various commercial fisheries. Mr. Poulson was a founding member of TONGASS MARITIME, LLC, COASTAL MARINE LOGISTICS, LLC, and WINDHAM MARINE, LLC, each previously offering various marine services in Southeast Alaska. He also served for seven years on the State of Alaska Board of Marine Pilots.

Mr. Poulson is a Member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States (MLA), the Admiralty Section of the Alaska Bar Association, the Admiralty Section of the Federal Bar Association, the Alaska Marine Safety Education Association (AMSEA), and the Admiralty Law Section of the American Association for Justice (AAJ). As a member of the MLA, he has been designated a Proctor in Admiralty, the most distinguished MLA membership for practicing maritime attorneys.

With his extensive experience in maritime litigation, Mr. Poulson is also an adept mediator.  He has completed mediation training with Pepperdine University School of Law’s Strauss Institute for Dispute Resolution and is on the American Arbitration Association’s Roster of Neutrals. He has also completed the American Arbitration Association’s International Center for Dispute Resolution Symposia in Advanced Case Management Issues In Seafarer Arbitration.

Based out of Juneau, Alaska (Poulson Law), Attorney Poulson stands ready to assist injured commercial fishermen, vessel passengers, and others who have tragically lost a loved one at sea.
